LIFE CHANGING WATER
Thankyou co-founder Daniel Flynn started out with the ambitious objective back in 2008 to end global poverty in his lifetime, one bottle of water at a time. It was in response to the World Water Crisis where, at the time, over 900 million people globally didn’t have access to safe drinking water. However, at the same time the bottled water industry in Australia alone was worth an estimated $600 million a year! A crazy thought given the quality of Australian drinking water the water straight out of the tap.
The Thankyou movement was well documented and included flying helicopters over the headquarters of the countries biggest supermarkets in a lobbying attempt to get their products stocked in store. These bold, resilient, persistent, egalitarian and many thought crazy attributes are well admired and firmly in alignment with ours at CORE+
IT HAS TAUGHT US THAT WE DO HAVE THE POWER TO CHANGE STUFF. BUT IN ORDER TO DO SO, WE NEED TO BE WILLING TO CHANGE OUR THINKING. EVERY SINGLE DAY.”
— DANIEL FLYNN, THANKYOU
At CORE+ we support Thankyou by stocking their bottled water in our studios, as well as providing Thankyou bodycare products for our clients to use in our showers and bathrooms. You can track the impact your contribution is making by visiting thankyou.co/projects and entering the tracking code from your Thankyou product.
Thankyou’s co-founder Daniel Flynn pulled together a group of friends in Melbourne and together turned an idea to launch a line of bottled water that would fund water projects overseas into a reality. In July 2013 the business was rebranded as Thankyou, complete with two new ranges: food and body care and today, Thankyou has over 50 products available in 5500 outlets in Australia (including 7 Eleven, Coles and Woolworths). The idea was to take a more holistic approach to combating poverty, with 100% of profits funding safe water, food and hygiene and sanitation services around the world. In 2016 Thankyou baby was launched, a range of nappies and baby care funding child and maternal health programs around the globe to empower families in need. They also launched an online magazine called Wonderful Mama, a Thankyou community. Both funding child and maternal health programs around the globe to empower families in need.
Want to read more of the story? In 2016, they launched a book called ‘Chapter One’ written by co-founder Daniel Flynn, where 100% of the profits go to funding the future of Thankyou. Head to thankyou.co/chapterone to pick up your copy today!
